I’m really excited to bring you something different today – an interview!!
I thought it would be a great idea to speak to some people that have inspired me on my own journey, in the hopes that they too might inspire you on your own personal journey. Whether it be that you want to become a better blogger, lead a healthier lifestyle or even become your own boss one day (which is one of my own goals!).
I’ll be featuring someone once a month, and this month’s interviewee is Paige Schmidt, creator of the blog Healthy Hits the Spot and successful health coach. I thought it was only fitting that Paige was the first person I featured, as her blog was one of the first ones I read, and was one of the reasons I fell in love with the idea of blogs all those years ago!
Hello & welcome Paige! Could you please tell us a little bit more about yourself?
Hello there! My name is Paige Schmidt and I am a Certified Holistic Health Coach. I teach women to eat intuitively so they can find their most natural & happy weight, make peace with food, and ditch diets for good.
What inspired you to pursue a career in health coaching?
Back in 2011 when I started my blog, Healthy Hits the Spot, I said to myself “If I can inspire just one woman to love her body and not spend the amount of time dieting that I did, this blog will be worth it.” I quickly realized the possibilities of inspiring an infinite number of women through blogging and decided to take my blog to the next level and find a way to work with my incredible readers one on one. In came Health Coaching, out went my nursing program. I’m now in my 4th year of Health Coaching and love it just as much as I did on day one.
What have been the biggest highlights for you in your job so far?
All of the “firsts” have been the biggest highlights: my first client, my first graduated client, my first eBook
, my first virtual coaching program Finally Free
, my first business partner, and the many more firsts that will come!
What have been your biggest challenges in your job so far?
The biggest challenge as a Health Coach and entrepreneur for me has been how much working for myself has required me to step outside of my comfort zone and grow. Every step stretches me a little bit more. Although this always feels hard in the moment, ultimately, it’s also one of the best parts of working for myself.
How do you stay motivated to meet your goals?
I recently wrote a blog post
on this! Since I’m a visual person, when I’m lacking motivation I need to change up what I see around me. I’ll do things like: sit down and map out a plan that gives me momentum, rearrange the furniture in my office, write inspirational quotes out on my big office whiteboard, or add some photos to my vision board.
I also make sure to take breaks, time off, and spend time with people who fill me.
What’s the most valuable piece of advice you could give to anyone wanting to pursue their dreams?
There will be so many times that giving up and crawling in your own little comfort bubble would feel easier than stretching yourself one more time and continuing to move forward. Don’t give up. If you decide to make it, and will put in the work, you will!
