Some Big Life Changes!

Hiya lovelies! Because I love sharing with you all bits and pieces of my life (probably a little too much to be honest), I just thought I’d share some big changes that have been happening in our lives at the moment!

Firstly, I’ve gone back to study full time online! As most of you know, I studied an Adv. Diploma of Nutritional Medicine for 2 years and graduated back in April last year. I had really missed learning though and I genuinely felt a void that only learning more about my passions could fill. At first I attempted an online Adv. Dip. of Naturopathy through Ivy College, but I found it too hard to keep up with. There was a lot of pressure, not enough time, support or structure within the course. The lecturers and trainers were great, but they just didn’t have the support of the college to really make the course better. That really dampened my spirits because I had such high hopes.

But then after speaking to my sister when she was visiting for Easter, She told me she had just recently transferred to Endeavour to complete a Bachelor of Complementary Medicine from an Adv Dip in Western Herbal Medicine at another rprivate college. After hearing such positive feedback, I knew that was what I needed to do too. It was funny, because I had plans to do this exact course anyway after the Naturopathy course. But to hear from my sister first hand just how great the content and lecturers were and how well structured it all was, I knew it was what I needed to do right now.

So a few weeks ago, I withdrew out of Ivy and enrolled into Endeavour and it was the best decision I’ve made! I’m already loving it and my subjects for this term! I feel really positive about it all and I can’t wait to knuckle down and get my study on. Holistic health and natural therapies is definitely my calling!

Work wise I’ve had some changes too! You might remember that while I was in college, I was floating from part time job to part time job just trying to help bring in some money to help support us (it was never much though, Jared was always the breadwinner). After graduating last year, I floated from job to job again, trying to find a place that I fit in and where my skills were appreciated.

Finally in December I somehow landed myself a job with a pathology lab specialising in mineral testing and nutritional therapy, and started work in a mixed role as event organiser, advertising manager, newsletter writer and researcher. It’s been a big learning curve, but I have been loving it! It’s a small company, and I really enjoy the people I work with. It’s also a really supportive environment and I feel at peace for the first time in a very long time. It’s nice to finally feel a bit of stability! Oh, and I’m getting a promotion! *insert happy dance* Our business operations manager will be on maternity leave in August, and she will be training me to take her place for the year that she’ll be on leave! I am so nervous, but so excited at the same time!

It’s going to be crazy busy on my end now, trying to juggle full time work, full time study, blogging and LIFE in between. And I’m still trying to work out the best way to do all that through trial and error, but I have faith that I’ll work it out (eventually!).

My life is not the only one here that’s been going through changes at the moment! Jared has just made a pretty GIGANTIC life change too. He recently quit his job as a furniture designer and has decided to pursue his big (and until recently – quite secret) dream of becoming a professional musician. How awesome is that?? It’s something he’s imagined doing for years now, but never had the courage to pursue. Since finding out about it, I have been doing my best to encourage him to follow his heart (you guys know I’m all about that – hello, I went from unhealthy account broker to hippie/food enthusiast/nutritionst/writer/holistic health nut!) and so he finally took the plunge!

His last day as a furniture designer was last Tuesday, and now he’s going focus on writing/creating music at home, so he can get good enough to audition for a music school and also working part time somewhere. If you know of any good part time jobs going at the moment in Sydney – PLEASE let me know either here or please feel free to email me on If Jared gets the job I’ll pay you in a tray of pastries and lifelong friendship!

It feels good to be the one working and earning money to support him and his dream chasing. He did that for me during all of my college years without question and without complaint, it feels so freakin’ amazing to be able to now give him the same love, emotional and financial support in return.

PHEW, so that’s life at the moment! So if I’m a little delayed in responding to your comments or posting up a recipe or something, it’s not that I don’t want to, it’s just because I’m probably drowning in work outside of the blog (and someone should probably send me tea and chocolate to help me get through it!).

My blog will always be one of my biggest loves though, so I will still do what it takes to try and make it a priority in my life whenever! You guys are basically stuck with me forever (sorry, not sorry!).

To end this post, I’ll leave you with this quote. I saw it a long time ago, but it’s one that resurfaced in my mind recently and I can’t stop thinking about. So if you have been waiting for your sign to chase your dreams, this is it.

Questions for you!

  • Have you made any big changes in your life this past year and how did it go?
  • Do you like change and why/why not?

  1. Love this blog post! It’s so nice to hear about big scary life challenges. Changes are forced on us sometimes and we just have to adapt! My university forced me to graduate 2 weeks ago (damn the passing of time!) and I am in a total black abyss of uncertainty. If I didn’t have two part time jobs to keep me afloat I would be absolutely drowning in boredom (still am slightly drowning as I love learning, like you!) I think change is great though as life can seem a bit too predictable when we get stuck in the same old routine. Some people love comfort and stability and I crave changes and new experiences. Good luck with your promotion and all the musical endeavors in your cute little household! xx

    1. Oh wow, that would be a big change to adapt to! I felt the same after graduating. I was basically like “well…. what now?” Hahaha! I bet you’ll figure it out soon though! And YES, I’m a total lover of change too! Jared is the opposite. He prefers the safer more comfortable options. We compliment each other well in that instance, because he grounds me when I’m being too impulsive and I encourage him to take the leap when he’s being too safe ;). Thank you so much for your well wishes. I truly appreciate it! xx

  2. Yay – exciting times ahead for you! Nothing feels better than chasing your dreams and living life with passion!!! I did my personal training course in Endeavours and they are AMAZING! Their lecturers and even admin stuff were so helpful! You’re gonna love it! X

    1. Thank you!! And that’s so good to hear that you had a good experience with them too! It makes me feel even better that I’m doing my course through them now! xx
